From Intern to Talent Management: Nick Granowsky’s Success Story

Life at Arch

For Nick Granowsky, one internship at Arch wasn’t enough.

“I’ve had a wonderful experience working on the Arch team,” he shares. “Which is why I’ve kept returning!”

Granowsky first discovered Arch Mortgage Insurance (MI) while studying at Appalachian State University in North Carolina. Drawn to the intersection of psychology and business, he applied for a Human Resources internship.

“I wanted to learn more about the types of careers that existed in Human Resources,” he says.

That initial experience sparked a deeper interest. When his graduate program required another internship, Granowsky found himself back at Arch — this time in a talent acquisition role within Arch’s corporate segment.

“I reached out to my previous manager to express my continued desire to work at Arch,” he recalls.

During his second internship, Granowsky focused on recruitment and contributed to an information technology career framework project.

“My work included coordinating and leading meetings with various teams to refine dozens of job profiles,” he explains.

After completing both internships, Granowsky stayed connected with his Arch contacts and kept an eye on job openings. His persistence paid off.

“I reached out to my internship manager about the opportunity,” he says, referring to a Talent Operations Specialist role. “And I was referred to the hiring team.”

In May 2023, Granowsky officially joined Arch full time. Just 17 months later, he was promoted to Talent Management Specialist, a role that draws directly on his internship experiences.

“I gained the understanding of how to collaborate effectively across teams,” he says. “In school, everyone has the same objective. In the workforce, we must navigate the differing priorities of multiple stakeholders, which makes it critical to consider how to align goals.”

Granowsky credits his success to the support he received throughout his journey.

“From my first internship to my current role, I have felt supported every step of the way,” he says. “I am very thankful to have received opportunities to work with such special people.”

Looking ahead, Granowsky has a clear vision for his future.

“In the next five to 10 years, I hope to continue growing in the talent management space, bringing a data-driven approach to decision-making across all talent functions.”

To future interns, Granowsky offers this advice:

“Be open-minded and lean into opportunities that come your way. Internships are not just an opportunity to learn about a certain industry or line of work, but also to learn about yourself.”
