Grooving to the Beat of ‘The Arch Way’

Arch’s people make the company what it is — and sometimes they make the soundtrack, too.

Meet Gio Panotes, an Underwriting Service Specialist on the Middle Market Commercial and Entertainment team who captured hearts (and ears) in Arch Insurance North America with a song he co-created and performed about “The Arch Way.”

The song was penned by Panotes’ manager, Catheryne McGarrity, who was looking for a fun way to bring behaviors that support Arch’s five Values to life.

After giving it a lot of thought, she landed on a song. “I enjoy being creative, and I knew I wanted to do something special,” McGarrity explained. “I focused on messages that resonated with me most. I also included how my team and I personally express these behaviors in our work.”

McGarrity had the inspiration, the words, the message. Now she needed someone to add the rhythm. She proposed the idea to Panotes, originally from the Philippines, who was raised in a culture where music is woven into everyday life. “I love playing guitar, ever since I was young. It’s kind of like a security blanket. Everywhere I go, I bring it with me,” Panotes said.

When McGarrity approached him to help bring “The Arch Way” to life, Gio was all in — as long as he could add his creative touch to the music. “She saw something in me, and she let me shine,” he said.

“As I began getting to know Gio, we bonded over our shared love of music. I own a guitar and dream of learning it one day, so we instantly connected,” McGarrity recalled.

Panotes didn’t want the song to sound like any old jingle. “I didn’t want it to sound like a commercial. It had to have heart.”

And heart is exactly what it has. The lyrics speak to Arch’s culture of inclusion:

Panotes said these words resonate because they reflect his lived experience working for the company. “This is Exhibit A,” he laughed. “The way Catheryne embraced my background and gave me space to express it creatively — I think it’s what ‘leading with heart’ looks like.”

McGarrity agreed. “I think it’s so important to connect with your team, not just professionally, but personally. Gio’s passion for music was obvious and contagious, and I knew he’d be perfect for this.”

So, what’s next? Panotes says he’ll keep doing what he loves: making music that connects people. Because to borrow from a line in The Arch Way song, “together we stay united and true — collaboration in all we do.”
